Stickers are here! You can get one as a gift when you make a donation valued at $5 or more in the shop!

Thank you one last time to all the artists who submitted, and especially to the three artists whose stickers were the winners!

Thank you to for printing these stickers! They look great!

I ( ) added a bonus picture of me happily holding the final stickers in real life. This was an idea I first proposed to the VBP collective almost half a year ago, and it has finally come to fruition. Remember that VBP is run solely by volunteers, and if you're a volunteer who wants to see something happen in the shop and are willing to put in the work to make it happen, then it can happen.

And the results are in!

Thank you to all artists, voters, and interested parties. In a surprising turn of events, we have a tie for first place: tied for first are both The Velocipede Centipede (design #2) by Beth Krynick () and the Rat Cyclist (design #4) by Leah Oster (). Right behind them as our third and currently final sticker design which will be printed in the first run of stickers is the VBP Chain Border (design #1) by Zak Wilson ().

Thank you to Beth, Leah, and Zak for their winning designs, and thank you to Brayden () and Myles for their designs as well. Expect to see the donation sticker designs in-shop in the next coming months.

And the designs are in! Our community members have come up with 6 lovely design submissions! The time is now to rank the sticker submissions from the design contest. Of the 6 designs, 3 will be chosen to be printed as stickers in our first run of donation stickers. The designs will be chosen based on the rankings conducted by shop volunteers. If you have been a volunteer at the shop you are able to vote! To cast your ballot, find the link in your email where you receive VBP volunteer correspondence, or in the VBP Volunteer Group Chat. Voting will be open to volunteers until November 18th! Thank you again to all artists, and best of luck!

Want to leave your mark on the water bottles and bikes of those in the VBP community? Now open to the volunteers and community-at-large: a design “competition” for a few new stickers which VBP will hand out for free when donations are made to the shop! The winners get the bragging rights to point at a sticker on some person’s bike and say “I made that!” See below, as there are a few design constraints for practicality, and also consistent theming. Designs can be submitted anytime before October 15th, and then voting will occur over the month-long period following that. For some sticker vibes inspiration from our neighbors on the other side of the world, check out the stickers Blue Lug does: https://bluelug.com/blog/global/stickers/.

Constraints are as follows:
Can be any shape, but cannot exceed 3 sq.in. in area
Sticker shape will need to be defined in the design, but it can be any shape with an area less than 3 sq.in.
Should be kept to a minimal color scheme of up to 5 colors, which must include the following colors: white, black, and VBP red
VBP red is HEX: 0xE51937, PMS: 186 C
VBP red should feature as the primary non-white/non-black color
Must include either:
“Velocipede Bike Project”
“Velocipede”
“VBP”

Submissions must include:
Your design
In digital format, either originally or scanned
Preferably vectorized
Your name and contact info
If you wish to plug your art-based social media feel free to do so here
A title or signifier for your design

Submissions can be submitted to [email protected] with the subject line “Sticker Competition Submission -” followed by the title/signifier for your sticker design. Your designs will be displayed alongside the design title/signifier and your name (plus social media if applicable) as the credited artist during the months of October/November for voting. If you do not wish for your name to be associated with your design please let me know at the time of design submission and we will keep your name anonymous.

If you have any questions, please email [email protected] with the subject line “Sticker Competition Inquiry” and make sure the body of the email includes your name.

There are still spots in this Monday's (March 31) BYOBike Tune-up class, as well as the six session Vintage Bike Overhaul class starting April 7!

We never know what interesting things we'll encounter in the class. This is a Suntour Symmetric shifter with a clever trim feature, so that as one shifts the rear, a cam slightly changes the cable tension to the front derailleur so it doesn't rub.

Classes meet at 100 W 22nd St. from 6-9pm. Please see the website for class descriptions and to enroll. https://www.velocipedebikeproject.org/classes
