Here's Kathy's thoughts on her process of working with watercolors on YUPO.

"Discovering what YUPO paper has to offer is an ongoing undertaking. Its qualities have a way of inspiring interesting compositions and visual effects. It is perfect for adding richly textured patterns to support the subject.

Figurative subjects are a continuing focus for me. I splash around with the watercolor and gradually focus in on a subject. Sometimes I tell the watercolor what to do and sometimes it tells me. " -Kathy

New year, new Art Walks on the calendar! Dates for 2026 are published on the official Highlandtown First Friday Art Walk poster. The scaley, snaky theme was inspired by our neighborhood’s massive mascot, the Rainbow Snake. Get ready for an exciting, inspiring season, chock full of creativity and community!

Hi! This is the 'nesting time' and with a foot of snow on the way, this seems like a good idea! While you're enjoying home time, look around and take stock. Here are a few suggestions with regards to your art.
1. A great option is move your art to different locations throughout your space. This allows you to notice your work again. Really works!
2. Take a look at the presentation of your collection. Some pieces may need a facelift with the framing. Mats on older pieces may be harming your work by not being acid free. (If you notice the bevel of your mats turning tan and that color spreading onto your work, damage is being done. It's time to re-mat & re-mount.)
3. Consider adding to your art collection! That space over the mantel or that blank wall at the top of the stairs is wanting for a piece This is my favorite suggestion of them all!
-Happy to help with all of the above. We offer curation services, reframing, and can help you find the perfect piece. If you're local and would like to see my work in your space, I'm happy to bring it to you so you can experience firsthand how the artwork fits in your environment.

For myself, I have picked out new paint colors for the dining room, foyer (up the stairs and beyond..) I doubtful I'll paint past the dining room during this snow staycation, but I'll try. 😉

Happy holidays to all! Today the Crystal Moll Gallery will be open from 2-5. This will be the final day you may visit and shop 😉 before Christmas.
