Honoring the Forgotten Dead - In the weeks leading up to Samhain, there are many traditions and rituals to honor the dead. Today, September 13, I will be honoring the "Forgotten Dead" with a fire lighting ceremony. .
This is a beautiful ritual to honor those who have died in some sinister way and, for whatever reason their bodies were never laid to rest. The ritual is simple, you just choose a candle color for each group you would like to remember. I have 5 candles this year:
Green to represent the women who were taken and condemned for their practice or beliefs, those sold into s*x slavery never to be seen again. Those r***d and murdered and left like garbage.
Purple for the Transgender sisters & brothers: for the many who are used, abused, murdered, and forgotten just for being.
Blue for the Prostitutes: the working ladies and men of the night. The worn, the exploited, the crushed souls whose bodies have been depleted and then trashed.
Yellow for all the People of Color who have been taken, stripped of dignity, beaten, tortured, and killed for hundreds of years. Whose bodies lay in unmarked graves or tossed aside in malice.
Last, but not least, Orange for the children. The little hearts and souls who were taken to early, robbed of life, opportunity, and innocence.
May they all find peace this night. May they all feel heard, loved, remembered, and appreciated. May their bodies and souls finally see the light of day, and may justice be served for each and every one. So shall it be. 💚💜💚🔮🍂🔥🕯
