Driving by Tower Records was just always a part of L.A.
If you couldn't find it anywhere else, you could find the record, album, cassette, or CD at Tower Records, and few people remember that it was Tower Records and their extended hours that introduced us two getting the latest movie out on VHS, Tower Records was the model for Black Buster Videos.

It Came From The 70s

The Tower Records in West Hollywood that opened up shop at in 1971 was the first Southern California location of the Sacramento-based chain, and probably safe to say, the most famous. Before Tower was built, the corner had been home to a drive-in restaurant in the '40s, a diner in the '50s, and in 1964, it was where Earl "Madman" Muntz sold car stereo systems.
