Going outside to pick fresh fruits is a feeling I can’t describe! Right now it’s only a few things to harvest but I know with my continued hard work I have lots more harvest to come ☺️

When I was first diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer a rush of feelings came over, some big thoughts, like missing out on my children’s future..and some small thoughts, like never getting the farm I always wanted.

God works in different ways and he blessed me with a home with established fruit trees, grapes and a backyard with the perfect layout for growing my own food.

It’s been over a year now since my diagnosis and instead of getting lost in the future, I stick to the present.

I spend as much quality time with my kids as I can and I instead of letting my goals get lost in my brain, I go after what I can now. I might not have acres in my backyard but for now I’m gonna grow what I can and use this knowledge for my future farm 👩🏻‍🌾

Have a great weekend friends!

Hey friends, it’s been a minute since I updated you all on the garden. Apricots have been harvested and now the peaches are starting to show color 🧡🍑

My flower garden is starting to show some greenery! We have sunflowers poking through, along with bells of Ireland and zinnias. I can’t wait for everything to start blooming 🥰

Look at my seed babies grow!

A few days ago, I started my Zinnia seeds and they have germinated so well! You can direct sow Zinnias but since I want to try being a mini florist I decided to start them by seed and transplant later!

My mother also requested eggplants and after some research I read, they do best when starting them by seed so we have those germinating as well.

I got this seed incubator from Amazon and it comes with lights and holes for airflow, I do pop the lids off for a bit so mold doesnt start growing.

I plan on starting lavender seeds next, just need to make the right soil mix so my seeds will thrive.

Gardening has been such a stress reliever but honestly it's so much work! NO DAYS OFF! Especially in this Bakersfield heat!

I'm going to try going live on facebook this weekend, would you tune in and hang out with me?

Almost time to harvest my apricots!

They need a bit more color before there ready for picking.

Now I need to learn how to make all things apricot...apricot jam, dried apricots...apricot pie?

Oh and of course, have family and friends come by and get some as well!

Im thinking of starting something new - selling flower bouquets from my garden 🌹

I’m growing a variety of flowers and many of them produce more blooms when they get cut. I love fresh cut flowers but there’s only so many I can put around my house ☺️

I’ve been thinking hard on ways I can contribute financially, in a realistic and meaningful way.

Having cancer can be exhausting, physically demanding jobs are a hard no, and jobs with flexible work can be hard to come by.

Gardening has become my form of exercise and it’s also something I love working on. If my hobby can be fruitful, I want to make the most of it 🙏🏽

Do you buy fresh cut flowers? I’ll be posting a menu soon!

Garden To Do List:

• Prune my Strawberry plants 🍓
- Remove all the yellow leaves

• Relocate Oregano 🌿
- Oregano is leaning into my Strawberry plant, & this resulted in less fruiting! I’m repotting the Oregano into a 5lb bag.

Another month, means another infusion.

My appointments have trickled down to 1 monthly visit. The appointment is from 8:30 to 2pmish. Some days longer. Occasionally I’ll have a hectic month where I’ll see doctors more than I’d like but that is life.

I bring a few activities on infusion day. Today I brought something to knit and a book. I’ve heard this book “Piranesi” gives Harry Potter vibes so I’m hoping to make progress today.

Of course, I bring lots of snacks. I try to keep it healthy with fresh fruits and trail mix.

Infusion day consists of a 4 hour infusion for bone health and hydration. Labs. An EKG. A shot to the belly to block my hormones. Not a fun shot btw. And usually a visit with my oncologist where he lets me know whether my cancer has increased or decreased. I’ve been blessed with good news so far, but I do hold my breath for a second each time.

After the long day, I’m usually famished and eat a bean & rice burrito with a bit of tapatio.

Infusion days are quite draining and I try to relax for the rest of the day. I’ll make an easy dinner for the kiddos, pop on a movie and we’ll all hang out on the couch. I’m grateful my children can sense these days and love to be extra helpful.

That is infusion day in a nutshell, not the worst of course but I’d rather be at home 🤭
