Always busy in my shop. While waiting on the parts for the Abu, had this Penn International 50T on the bench. The owner brought it to me with a light drag problem. He stated he had a brand new drag plate installed a couple of years ago and that it never worked right since. I completely disassembled it cleaned all the old hard grease out of it. I then cleaned and polished the drag internals and lubed everything with high quality Penn Reel grease. While having it a part I found the disk clutch springs were installed incorrectly. That along with the drag cam assembly being grungy lead to a brand new drag not engaging until on full. After everything was cleaned and put back correctly and this old warhorse is back on the boat catching fish where it belongs! Have a reel that needs some work?
