Reminder: We are screening this film tonight! This is the film I screened multiple times at UW when it first came out, and what inspired me to create the Palestine Online Store; its primary purpose was to make documentary film DVD's more widely available for purchase. Here's the announcement:

GAZA FILM SERIES next screening is "Gaza Strip" directed by James Longley.
"The time since the release of this film in 2002 has seen many changes, including the evacuation of illegal Israeli settlements inside the Gaza Strip and the election of Hamas. However, the occupation and attacks against Gaza continue, and the blockade of Gaza has intensified. It is my hope that this film will provide a partial introduction to Gaza for those who have come to the subject recently, and also serve as a document of its time." -JL.

Free and open to the public.
Asian American Resource Center, 8401 Cameron Road, Austin.
Tuesday, February 27th, 6:30-8:30pm.
The film is 72 minutes long, followed by discussion.
Some graphic scenes are not suitable for children.

Last year, I curated a film series featuring 4 documentaries about Gaza. The reception to it was spectacular, so we're doing it again this year, with tentatively two film screenings every month! The first one of this year starts tonight!

Tonight's are two shorts by my friend Hadeel Assali, who's family is from Gaza. The first one, "Daggit Gaza" is a phone conversation with her uncle in Gaza. As a laborer in '48 Falasteen, he got kicked out after Oct. 7 and is stuck in the West Bank, unable to reach his family. Tragically, his entire family in Gaza got wiped out in this genocide. Hadeel will be joining us by video call to share his story and facilitate discussion.
