Well they can’t all be successes. I realized 2 things today. 1) I didn’t drill holes for the handle pins before I hardened the blade, and 2) my primary grind was too steep making it near impossible to make a good secondary grind. I think this may be the end of round one time to stay a new knife with some new knowledge from this one

This is where I am at so far. Need to drill holes for handle pins then heat treat then put a handle and an edge in it.

Started on the first file knife. Had to anneal the file then grind down so it was semi smooth and started shaping. Still doing some fine tuning on the tools so I didn’t get a ton done today.

Hello everyone!

This is Natalie, the long term sitter of Josh's babies. 🥰 I'm just stopping in to share the new found love of Derpy & Bowie!

I must say that they are the most precious of couples. During the day, Bowie shows Derpy where the food & good treats are. At night, Derpy keeps Bowie under her chest & let's him snuggle underneath her. ❤️

I suck at keeping my phone on me, so the cutest moments aren't always caught on film.... but I'll do my best to upload photos & make updates on the ladies, Bowie & their new family members. (Other 🐔, emu named Ozzy, 🐢 named Randall, Koi pond that everyone is fascinated by & the dogs that run in & out on a regular basis & try to steal eggs before I find them 😑)

We'll get into the "inside" creatures at some other time.... but for now, here's Derpy & Bowie!! ❤️🥰❤️

So, probably my last post here for a while. I took a new job and i am moving from my place with a big yard in TX to a small place in Chicago. The chickens have been adopted by my friend Natalie. Derpy has a new boyfriend (a silky rooster named Bowie that helps her out). I will continue with the soap and chapstick making but the ivrstick and gardening need to be put on hold.

Sad day on the farm Princess Layer had sour croop. We think we caught it early and we were treating her but it looks like she asphyxiated over night.

I have’t had time to get the garden how I want it, but the grape vines are loaded with little tiny baby grapes!

Teaching myself sustainability and self sufficiency. Tonight’s dinner is a steak from my cow I helped raise, eggs from my chickens, and a hard cider that I made from scratch. Eaten on a table that I made… I’m pretty proud of that
