Staff Pick Saturday alert!
This week, Shayla recommends Jade City by Fonda Lee:
"Black Panther meets the Godfather in this urban fantasy set in the Asian-inspired metropolis of Janloon, the home to Jade-wearing warriors called Green Bones. Jade is a highly coveted stone of immense power. When warring Green Bone clans fight for dominance and external forces look to covet the powerful stone...Trust will be tested, power will volley, and, of course, the worms will feed. Fantastic world-building, pacing, and writing." You're in luck, it's a trilogy!

WhaleFall the movie is out... I read the book, it was great and won some awards.... but it got me thinking, why do we have like five books all named WhaleFall right now???!? BTW, the kids' one is a scientifically accurate if creepy illustration of how dead whales create an important ecological environment, you should totally check that out. @

Y'ALL ALREADY KNOW WHAT TODAY IS!!!! 😆😍 Happy staff-pick-selfie Saturday to ALL who celebrate! 🥳📚🤓 This week, Asa recommends TIN MAN by Sarah Winman:
"Life is just a long string of love stories. From 1950s Oxford, to 1970s Toulouse, we follow Ellis, a sensitive English vehicle detailer, as he relishes and loses his three great loves- his mother, Dora, his wife, Annie, and his best friend, Micheal. This book is crushingly sad, profoundly hopeful, and entirely remarkable. I cried like a baby from cover to cover. 5 stars!" ❤️‍🩹🇬🇧🥲
