O dear Listener, it is high time to awaken, out of your sinful slumber, to the doctrine of the wrath of God. Awake, O sleeper! Open your eyes, you who slumber! Do not visit the Grand Canyon and merely take some pictures and say to yourself, “That was a beautiful sunset.” Instead, see the depths of the canyon as being small compared to the depths of Hell, and remember that the canyon was formed, originally, when God destroyed every breathing thing on earth by wrath—by a global flood of water—save Noah, his family, and all of the creatures aboard the ark. Similarly, do not visit Yellowstone and merely write some poems that say, “Nature is lovely.” For, although God has built some very gracious signs of the coming Kingdom of Heaven into the beauty of Yellowstone, He also has made Yellowstone a great geological memorial to the global flood of wrathful waters in Noah’s day. Yet even more, Yellowstone, being a sleeping giant of a volcano, even a super-volcano, complete with its angry geysers and steaming fumaroles, speaks loudly of the coming eruption of God’s wrath of fire and brimstone over the whole of this wicked, idolatrous world. The signs of the Lord’s anger against the idolatry of man are all present. The heavens and earth are reserved for fire until the Day of Judgment and perdition of ungodly men [2 Peter 3:7]. The coming wrath of God is being revealed from Heaven. Do you, then, dear Listener, have ears to hear these Words?
"From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, 'Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.' " (Matthew 4:17)
And,
"Come, my people, enter your chambers, and shut your doors behind you; hide yourself, as it were, for a little moment, until the [wrath] is past. For behold, the LORD comes out of His place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity; the earth will also disclose her blood, and will no more cover her slain." (Isaiah 26:20–21)
