At ARC we love solving problems.
especially for our 4H archery students.

When talking to our students about practice at home. Most are not doing it because they don’t have a target to use or targets are too expensive. And good targets are not cheap or easy to move around.
So we are thinking on how to solve this.
We need a target that can be used indoor and outdoor, light to move around, durable, and maybe offer something no one else is willing to do.

Had a bow I had purchased from a dealer and had it shipped to me. I confirmed with pre purchase pictures it was in perfect shape.
Box arrived with no damage and well packed.
My guesses are someone before shipping dryfired bow or somehow the bow derailed all the strings and cable slide came off in packing process.
Either way I had no choice but to reject the delivery as who knows what issues it has now. And we don’t hide issues and risk customer safety.

So much fun and fortunate to have the best weather.
It was a great turnout with young and more experienced shooters.
I didn’t place (this time) but had so much fun at my first Indiana 3D ASA event. Indiana Archery

This is what we are aiming for. So hard when the target lines are the same color as the foam animal. But that is the challenge. Even I had some luck finding the 12 ring which is the best score to get. So fun being able to use 27 size arrows.

Does arrow spine matter for youth bows?
yes!

Youth compound Shooting 24” draw at 21 #

Student had 600 spine and the arrows were sliding with impact nock down. They went to a big box store and had someone recommend these for them. Which obviously were not working.

So we had a few options for them in testing different spine arrows to see results on target.

We started a 1000 and saw a big improvement. So we tried an 800 spine and saw same improvements. We decided on the 800 so we have room to grow into a higher draw weight with growth. Our recommendation with these Up to no more than 30 #.

Left bottom arrows are the original 600 spine
Left top arrows are the 1000
Right arrows are the 800

Does the peep we choose matter? Yes!

I know these peeps are pretty and can add some flair to your bow. But they are not helping you as much as you think.

I got a bow as the customer said the image was blurry at times and thought they needed an adjustment.

I took a look and agreed with them. Come to find out the fancy paint was reflecting the light and causing bad glare.

We swapped it out for my gold standard “insight” peep from Hamskea Archery Solutions

Immediately saw a difference.
No more glare = more confidence when choosing your pin.

Peeps are a important part for safety. This needs to work in any lighting and weather condition and is not a part you want to skimp on.

We have other things we can do to make your bow pretty. 😁

See how the pink peep is smooth and painted on inside causing light to reflect.
The black Hamskea peep has internal baffles which prevent glare.
