Our final markdown starts this morning. Every book, all 50,000, are priced at 50 cents. Come early for the best selection.

Bring your own bags or boxes (and bring extras if you have them) and get here early. Stock up for yourself, grab some early Christmas presents, or build a library.

Our last day has been moved up to Friday, October 23th, when the store will shut its doors forever at 5pm.

We still have furniture, fixtures, bookcases, and equipment available too.

If you have store credit, you may use this as a direct trade, meaning no money out of your pocket.

The Bookstore is Closing

It is with very sad hearts that we must inform you of the closure of the store. Our revenues over the past 3 months have fallen by over 30% and we can no longer keep it going, even to wait on the non-profit.

We are starting the immediate liquidation of everything in the store. Beginning today, it's all 50% off. All the furniture, fixtures, and equipment are also available.

This morning, there was a great article published in the Auburn Reporter that signaled the launch of our fundraising campaign (http://www.auburn-reporter.com/news/307987771.html)

The Board of Directors has worked hard to form The Washington Literacy Organization, set up many great programs to support literacy in our community, and to ensure the long term viability of the Bookstore, which will be used to collect and distribute hundred's of thousand's of books back into our community in the coming years.

Now it's your turn. Without the proper funding from you and every one else in the community, we will not complete this endeavor.

Our website, WALiteracy.org is ready with information on tax deductible memberships, that will give you substantial discounts, and corporate sponsorships that offer great publicity. You may also learn about all of the great literacy programs, view the legal documents, and of course, make your tax deductible donation.

Better yet, stop by the store and we can tell you about it in person.

Today, I am proud to announce, after several months of hard work, that the groundwork is complete and we will officially launch The Washington Literacy Organization, along with its fundraising campaign, Tonight, Monday June 15th, at 6pm

Please come show your support, grab a glass of wine, a light desert, meet your 13 members of the Board of Directors, and learn about all of the great programs we will be implementing or expanding over the next few months.

You’re Invited to join us Monday, June 15th, 2015 at 6:00pm for the Official Launch Party of The Washington Literacy Organization.

As many of you know, after months of investigating every conceivable option, it was determined that the only viable, long term solution to keep our store alive was to convert it to a non-profit and expand the many programs offered. There are so many benefits in doing so. We can raise money through grants and tax deductible donations, utilize a large number of volunteers to undertake various roles that were historically paid, offer tax deductions for donated books, and garner a sense of community support and ownership.
