I should have realized that a 15 hour power outage wouldn't go unnoticed at the office. Either the initial incident or the power coming back on tripped 2 breakers and fried a surge protector - which did its job by protecting the electronics plugged into it. (I'm assuming it's fried because it doesn't work. πŸ™‚ )

A quick trip to Staples replaced the surge protector and everything seems to be working properly. Now to take care of yesterday's, and today's, orders.

UPDATE: I was wrong. It's TWO surge protectors. The second one is for some non-critical stuff, so I can wait until tomorrow to replace it.

On the positive side of the power outage ...,I am spending the day familiarizing myself with our latest 3D printer - a Centauri Carbon. (It's at home - my original plan was to do all this in the evening.)

The power outage that was supposed to be fixed by 1 PM today is now scheduled to be completed at 9 PM tonight.

We should be back in bright and early tomorrow morning to catch up on what we missed today.

Due to a power outage, the office is closed until at least 1PM today, according to National Grid's outage map. We will attempt to ship orders this afternoon if we get power back - if not, they'll go out tomorrow.

I apologize for the delay and inconvenience.

Interesting that this should show up in today's feed because ...

I will begin shipping the newly updated cockpit by this Thursday! I've simplified the assembly and made the parts snap together.

I'm just finishing the updated instructions and I begin packaging as soon as they're back from the printer.

Last week I collected all of the hardware for assembling a second drip rack from modular extrusions.

Did anyone happen to notice where I put said hardware to "keep it safe and handy"?

I just finished cutting all of the extrusions to length, and am just waiting on the hardware to assemble it. D'oh! 😁

Production has begun on the retooled Aries 1B Cockpit! The first print runs are printing and parts will be waiting for me in the morning.* Then the next batch starts ... etc. etc. until the entire run is complete.

In addition to redesigning this for 3D printing instead of resin casting, I've also reduced the number of parts and updated the connection points so this is essentially a snap-kit ... without any of the negative connotations that may bring up. 😁

Unless something catastrophic** happens, I will be shipping next Tuesday, March 10.

You can place a preorder today, here: https://paragrafix.biz/product_detail.asp?PPartNum=PGX247

* Once the parts are printed, they have a couple of other operations before they're ready, but that won't interfere with the printers printing.

** Even though the National Weather Service says we're going to have good weather for the next week, with the recent snowstorms I don't feel terribly confident.

Although quite well done, the cockpit included with the Moebius Models Aries 1B has two major issues: itΒ’s incorrectly shaped with the side walls running straight back instead of angled, and it provides no easy option for lighting.

The driving ban here in Massachusetts is still in force, so ParaGrafix will be closed again today.

Orders will ship out tomorrow ... assuming the ban has been lifted.

The town* is saying to stay off the roads, so the office is closed today.

I really don't see what the problem is.EDIT:

* It wasn't actually the town. The state issued a storm emergency banning all nonessential driving. (Apparently, going to the office doesn't count as "essential".)

Here's the promised reveal ...

The Zero Gravity Toilet instructions from 2001: A Space Odyssey!

It's almost ready for production with a few, very minor, light leaks to eliminate and a couple of add-ons like indictors for placing the LED strips, and a holder for the 9V rechargeable battery.

The instructions are made using a scan of the original, film used, instructions. They're printed on backlight film with an extra masking sheet for optimum opacity.

This set will include all wiring, pre-wired LED strips with connectors, rechargeable battery (for those in the USA*) and clear acrylic glazing. It attaches to the wall using a cleat - the cleat and mounting anchors will be included.

It screws together easily and can either be left as is, or sanded and painted as desired.

I don't have pricing yet, but I anticipate having all of my numbers together within the next week or two.

Finally!

* Including the battery is part of the plan, though shipping them might cause problems, requiring me to just specify the type that's needed.

I'm getting into a groove and starting to pound through converting cast resin parts to 3D printed parts.

First up is the Deep Sea Lab from "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea". I've reduced the dome from 6 "petals" to 3 and added a better alignment method for the dome and also the legs. It's in stock and ready to ship here: https://paragrafix.biz/product_detail.asp?PPartNum=PGX161

I'm currently working on the Aries 1B replacement cockpit and should have it finalized within the next 2 weeks. I've reduced the parts count that was necessary for casting, so assembly is a tad easier ... not that it was difficult to begin with.
