Fish DownSea, makers of the Party Hat, Circle Fly, Circle Witch and other fish-catching lures, began with an idea – a lure that is inexpensive, easy to use, and applicable to all fishermen. It all started with the need to find a way to add color to a ballyhoo when circle hook fishing for billfish. Any tournament in the USA where billfish are a target species only allow circle hooks with the use of

natural baits. This made it difficult to add a sea witch or ilander for color and flash without the use of J Hooks. One way was to add a sea witch in front of the circle hook, but the sea witch head acted as a bumper and knocked the cirlce hook out of the way of the fish's jaw on its way out on the hookup leading to a low hookup ratio and many pulled hooks. It all started with this simple design by adding hair to a rubber grommet (o-ring). Slip the circle hook onto your naked ballyhoo and add color to it with the party hat by slipping it on the hook so it lays on top of the ballyhoo. From here we continued on to creating the circle fly and circle witch for the more tuna saavy guys who are stuck using circle hooks for tuna in these tournaments. Today Fish DownSea produces lures that are like no other in the industry. These lures have become used across many spectrums of fishing. Not only are they effective on pelagic species such as marlin, tuna, and dolphin, but they are effective for summer flounder, striped bass, bluefish, largemouth bass, northern pike and other gamefish! Fish DownSea has generated a truly versatile one of a kind fishing lure.
