This will be a long one.
Yesterday, LifeWay announced that it will be closing all of its 170 stores this year due to online competition. We are sad to learn this. We are sad for the employees, the customers, and the communities which will no longer have a local store.

We want you to know that Logos Bookstore is still here ...maybe hanging on by our chipped and unpolished fingernails, but hanging on. 😉
We are doing our best to stay competitive.
• We match online prices.
• We have frequent buyer reward programs to earn gift certificates.
• We have a large selection of used books.
• We have a bargain books section.
• We imprint Bible covers.
• We have classic children’s books.
So, I think that many existing Christian bookstores are like mine. If we want to stay open, we have to listen to our customers and be flexible and do bookselling differently.
We do more than sell a book.
Amazon, Ollie’s, CBD... they treat books like commodities and book buyers are just a transaction. If that’s all you want from a book purchase, that’s fine.
But if you need community, recommendations, a listening ear; I invite you to try your local Christian Bookstore again.
There are still many of us little guys around.
Stop on by, if we don’t have want you want, LET US KNOW! We love to sell books... to match up authors & readers. If we don’t have it, we can usually get it in a day or two. ..I could go on & on...

On Tattoos...what happens in St. Louis....

OK, so I'm not the typical demographic for one sporting a tattoo on my left forearm.

But, when this cherubic 5-year old boy looked up at me from his family's booth in the Debut aisle of ICRS and asked, "Would you like tattoo?", I didn't hesitate.

No blood, no pain, no permanence, less than a minute of my packed-out schedule and an opportunity to shock my teenaged grandchildren.
Nothing to lose, I quickly decided...and, that little boy was sooo cute!

He placed the tattoo on my arm, John 10: 27-28 in flowery calligraphy, laid a wet sponge on top and then, his dad pressed lightly on the sponge for less than a minute.
The result was very nice, so a friend took a photo for authenticity, just in case it didn't last till I made it home to show the kids.

Well, it has lasted longer than the five days I was told.
And, the reactions have been quite interesting.

The grandkids already know I'm a little goofy, so they weren't shocked.
But, what has happened that surprised me are the comments from 20 year old girls.
They are strangers I've met while paying the bill at the Chinese Buffet, getting a coffee at the gas station, checking out at the grocery store.
They want to know if it's real, why I got it, how long it will last.
Then they tell me about their tattoos or the ones they want to get and their philosophy on tattoos in general.
I tell them that the tattoo is the Words of Jesus, and they take a closer look.

This tattoo has been a conversation starter that I never expected.
Isn't it interesting how the Lord can use just about anything He wants and anyone he chooses to get a conversation about Him opened up?
