Grocery store olive oil almost ended my brand.

Years ago, while I was out of the office, a cleanser batch ran low on olive oil.

An employee - with the best intentions - grabbed an organic olive oil from the grocery store to finish the batch.

Should have been fine, right?

Except it was not pure olive oil.

It was a blend.

The entire batch was compromised.

Every product had to be recalled and discarded.

That experience taught me one of the most expensive lessons I have learned in 30 years of botanical formulation:

Your ingredient source is part of your formula.

A trusted supplier and a grocery store shelf are not interchangeable - even when the label looks the same.

That one substitution changed everything.

And honestly? Most people would never think twice about it.
