Maternity Leave can be overwhelming. Believe me I KNOW! I’ve been a benefits and leave administration specialist for 8+ years.

It’s important to know what to expect so you can enjoy your time with baby STRESS-FREE.

Here a couple of tips that are often misunderstood. FMLA is not paid. And your employer is not required to pay you. Usually, mothers have to use their PTO or sick time to receive compensation while they’re out 🥴.

Be sure to check your company’s policy to see if there any benefits you can take advantage of while you’re out.

When I created this diaper bag line i wanted to have something that honored my title not hide it.

I didn’t want something that “didn’t look like a diaper bag” or “nobody will be able to tell.”

I felt like my motherhood is always hidden. Show up to work ready and rearing to go, even if I’ve been up with my baby all night. A schedule that makes me have to keep my kids in childcare 8 hours a day and a system that makes pregnancy and recovery almost impossible.

I’m a mama. And my battle wounds in this journey are something I don’t wanna hide. So yea I’m a mama and I want the world to know….and look fashionable doing it.

Don’t know what to pack? Here are a few things you want to make sure you have stashed away.

The temperature in the hospital is Antarctic, the hospital food is sub par at best and idk about you but I felt like I should’ve been rewarded with a delicious meal and instead settled for a bag of chips from the vending machine.

The hospital pads move around a lot. My favorite pads were infinity size 5 and Postpartum pads. They’re so refreshing.

As a benefits specialist for all of my professional career I’ve had countless calls of mamas wondering about maternity leave.

Here a couple things to know when baby is almost here.

A common misconception is that FMLA is paid and it is NOT. It is solely job protection.

To qualify for FMLA you have had to work for your employer for at least a year. You also have to work 1,250 hours within a single year period.

To get paid while you’re out you should either enroll in STD or use your accrued time to have funds coming in.

Some employers pay for STD others you have to enroll in yourself.

Take a look at the benefits your employer has to offer and see if they have their own corporation Maternity Leave Policy.

Having a baby is already overwhelming. But you don’t have to figure out this part alone.
