I couldn't agree more. I LOVE living in Atkinson. Kimball library has such rockstar staff who truly love their work.

Cathy helped me hunt all over the state of NH to find the book The Two Hour Cocktail Party by .... because gatherings matter, and I needed to do some research on how to make them a regular part of my life. (And I love research, thanks Nick for all of your secerts 😉)

Having taken lots of notes, I'm just about ready to dive into planning my first official cocktail party for this fall. ✨️🫣

School is out for summer..... school's out "forever!"🎶

Time to spill the beans....

I'm excited to announce that I'm starting a new career.
School & classes at night ✔️

Pass the state and national exams✔️

I've landed. I'm soooooo excited for new work as a professional house match maker and a career in real estate! I'm looking forward to helping people find their dream homes and achieve their real estate goals.

Never do I feel this connection more strongly than during music festivals, and the acute loneliness after...

when connection flows so deeply, followed by such a contrast when integrating back to normal life.

Today after settling in from ... it all becomes so much clearer.

1. Music is soul medicine to help us experience that miraculous oneness we yearn so much for.

2. We can (and MUST) cultivate it on purpose in the space between shows.

Music & snail mail. 🔗

I find when they are paired together, a lot of magical connection happens with the people you want most to be dancing along with you through life. 🦄

Take for example the mystery box of piano rolls that were delivered to my house. There are so many past, present and future connections to be made with such delightful humans from this one simple package.

1. It began on an evening of Musical Shenanigans.... sharing the joy of my antique player piano and inviting my friends to sign together without abandon. It was an evening of fun and connection. 🔗

Which lead to...

2. My friend met a new friend by telling her about the magic of that night. They connected by sharing stories of singing. 🔗

3. The lovely new friend I have not yet met was inspired to get in on the fun. She decided to send me the greatest care package I've ever received!!!! All of the piano rolls she owned but wasn't able to use. She connected the music to me. And my heart to her. 🔗

4. They arrived and I had so much fun sorting through them with my mother in law as she told me stories the old songs made her think about. Such a memorable evening of connection. 🔗

5. I was so full of appreciation and joy that I sent the piano roll fairy back my SONG-er-SATION cards. These spark connection by using songs as prompts.🔗

6. Those very rolls will be played at the next evening of "Musical Shenanigans", and I'll get to connect with everyone there by sharing this story (and the music). And maybe, just maybe.... my new friend that I can't wait to meet IRL will join us. 🔗

Did you play board games or card games as a kid?

I played for hours with my sister. And I was the queen of a draw 4 stacked on top of a draw 4. Two player Uno. So many opportunities for such sweet revenge 🤣

What I love most about casual games is the connection that flows through good natured banter. When winning is really just an excuse to ride the ups and downs of good luck and bad fortune, laughing along the way - together.

Games are such an easy way for us to gather.

Games that involve music? Now we're talking... that's even better!!!!

I'm really excited for the next Musical Shenanigans adventure I'll be hosting. It may or may not involve musical card games with unicorns and porta potties 😉 🦄💩

Name a song that reminds you of someone who has passed away.

I'll go first.....

"Sweet Gypsy Rose". Honestly I have no idea who wrote it.

This song reminds me of my Grandma Esther.

And I had totally forgotten about it until recently. I grabbed this record during one of our "Random Record Dance Parties".

One of the rules for this Musical Shenanigan Excursion is that you aren't supposed to know any of the music when choosing an album from the dollar bin. And so I thought.... until this song came on. And I knew all of the words. And it all came flooding back.

In the summers during elementary school, I used to go all by myself on an airplane and stay with my Grandma Esther and my Grandpap. In the evenings, we played piano rolls together on her father's 1919 player piano.

Taking turns pumping the peddles, gathered around to sing the words printed on the roll, we laughed, danced and shared so much music fun.

Sweet Gypsy Rose was one of her/my favorites.

Music is my biggest pathway to True Fun. It's how I find deep meaningful connection. To myself, to the larger flow of energy, and to other fantastic humans. My family. My friends who become family through music. And that likely means you.

That smile we often share when the music brings us to "that" place. If you've experienced it, you know what I mean.

I love you and I love spending time with you. Those moments make me feel so alive.

And....Musical Shenanigan Excursions have made my heart so happy lately.

I'd say my latest MUSICAL SHENANIGANS adventure was a smashing success.

And it feels soooooo good to breath new life into old music technology.

What a trip it was to open a bunch of old cassette tapes. It brought me right back to Christmas as a child.

Did you ever have cassette tapes in your life? At 39 years old, I'm right on the bubble of getting to have experienced so many rapidly changing forms of technology. 🤣

Fun Matters

It fills up my tank. Which, when I was younger, had been empty for a long time.

When I started seeing live music years and years ago, I was blown away by how FUN it was, and with how much happiness I felt. I didn't even know it was possible to be...

*That fully alive

*Connected to the truest most sparkly, silly, authentic part of me

*Connected to others in such a deep way

Not until I experienced it first hand. If you had tried to explain it to me, I wouldn't have believed you.

Then, at a music festival I noticed that my face was literally hurting from smiling so much, which then made me laugh hysterically. Here I was, cackling like a crazy person with tears running down my face, trying not to p*e my pants while rubbing my cheeks because they were so sore. From sheer glee. It all seemed so delightfully absurd and I wanted more. It became my life's work to understand what was happening.

That's the power of True Fun. It overfills my tank with love, joy and appreciation to where it spills out (hopefully not down my pants) into the world for everyone to see. And benefit from. And share in. And contribute to. And it feels soooooo good. Happiness found.

It took me a long time to figure out that chasing happiness was the wrong target and way to get there. I learned that happiness is the gauge, the emotional indicator, measuring high levels of the tank, and not something to seek itself.

What was I DOING to feel burstingly happy? Having True Fun.

Which, it turns out, is a learnable experience that can be replicated, once you understand your unique makeup of these three elements.

Flow forms

Music is a HUGE flow element of my funprint. And so is physicality, thrill & learning.

And even though music is probably my biggest element, going to more and more shows wasn't the answer.

Mapping my funprint changed my life. I have WAY more moments of True Fun & and so much happiness. Which I want for you too!!

I'm so excited to share all of this with you. I'm working on a new project to help you map your own funprint in a way that is REALLY FUN!

People who hug have more fun🌟

If you’re a hugger like me, you already know that hugs feel FREAKING amazing!!! And there is a good reason for this. Research shows that when we hug people it releases oxytocin, a hormone that helps with bonding and connection.

AND…..Connection just so happens to be one of the three components of fun.

Real, genuine, high vibe fun. The jumping up and down or p*eing your pants laughing kind of fun. In order to experience True Fun, that feeling of excitement, exhilaration and of being truly alive, connection is fundamental.

Which is why I love the live music scene so much. Hugs are the cultural norm of how we greet each other, old friends and those just met.

I just came back from seeing Phish in Mexico, and one of the things that really stuck out was how deeply fulfilling sweaty hugs are. I gave (and received) a LOT of them. There’s just something extra special about the mixture of sun, dancing, and salty hugs - sharing all of that love of place, music and people through the connection of a wet embrace.

Connection, playfulness and flow are the three components of true fun.

And let me just say, my trip to Mexico, which was filled with deep soul filled connection on many levels (and included tons of hugs) was SO MUCH FUN!

So…. if you are preparing for an activity that you hope will take you to the place of true fun, try priming your sense of connection by hugging a few people first. And be sure to give a really good one!

H- hold on tight, squeeze & give deep pressure
U - until you both relax, then you will…
G - grow your connection and be primed for fun!

Good huggers make a connection & impression. I bet you know a few.

True fun feels like... glee taking a joyride in a shopping cart.

So much hilarity my sides hurt.

Connection, curiosity.

Delight.

Thrill. Adventure.

A celebration.

Exhilaration.

Enchanted excitement.

Magic.

Feeling free. Being the most me-iest me.

Ohhh what a beautiful buzz 🎶

Picture this... we're parading in circles around the living room (think marching band style) with Tim leading the line, followed by me mirroring his exaggerated movements and uncontrollably giggling all while Elko desperately tried to nibble my rear. He wanted in on the fun too!

This hilarious scene, inspired by a was another True Fun moment I've added to my list.

I'm so glad that memory bubbled up today. I've spent a lot of time really thinking about what to add.

10 true fun moments in the past twelve months.

Creating the list has been harder to do than I expected.

For me, open ended self-reflection can be challenging. My ADHD brain jumps around a bit like this...

What did I forget to put on grocery list? Why are erasers always pink? Who first made the discovery that dog feet sometimes smell like corn chips? I love candle light. My neck is tight, I should probably dance, ohh yea,
the safety dance - that would be hilarious.
Time for the meatstick, take out the meatstick.... Ohh yea I should check on dinner. .................................................................................................................

Sooooo, as you can see, I like a prompt or activity to help anchor and re-direct my focus.

10 moments of True Fun.

Where did I last wear that special sparkly thing to? What magic happened? (Something usually does when my outfit goes from every day sequins to circus performer).

What do I ALWAYS make time for and what were those moments in the past year?
