I always appreciate the opportunity to come back to the Paramount Theater to tune their beautiful Baldwin concert grand. It's one of the nicest instruments I get to work with. I'm excited to see the great things that will be happening at the theater!

Occasionally, I work with some pretty old pianos. Today, I tuned and repaired a few keys on a Haddorff vertical piano from 1917 - about 107 years old!
My favorite thing on these old pianos is to find little notes left by technicians past - this piano had one W. H. Sherrill's records of when they had tuned it between 1931 and 1945. I wonder if W. Sherrill could have predicted that almost 100 years later, someone named Justin would be sitting in front of this piano tuning it.

I had the GOLDEN opportunity to take a tour of the Mason & Hamlin piano factory in Haverhill, MA this morning. What a great experience! I got to see how they manufacture pianos from start to finish.

Replaced all the black keytops on this nice Wurlitzer baby grand; they had worn down after decades of playing by the owner, who is a stellar pianist.
Are your piano keys yellowed, worn, missing, or chipped? They don't have to be! I can replace both white and black keytops, including imitation ivories. Contact me for info if you're interested.

This week, I am at the Piano Technicians Guild Convention and Technical Institute in Des Moines, IA, honing my craft, learning new skills in order to be able to provide a wider array of services, and connecting with other colleagues in the field.

PIANO SHOWCASE: I was able to do some voicing work on this really nice Yamaha G1 this week. Yamaha pianos are known for their bright, punchy tone, but this one had lost some of its edge in the bass section. Through voicing, new life was breathed into this piano and it sounded great.

My job takes me to some surprising places... yesterday, I had the opportunity to do some regulating and voicing work on a piano whose temporary home was at the airport in West Liberty!
