In just under 5 weeks we will host “Marbles in the Mountains”, a marble showcase featuring 250 of our favorite artists on the planet! To say that we are excited and that this is an absolute honor for us to bring all of these artists together would be a massive understatement.
We decided to curate this marble show for a variety of reasons, one of them being inclusivity. We wanted to be able to include as many people as possible to celebrate our return to hosting at 42. Since (most) marbles are generally small and almost all glass artists make marbles, hosting a show focusing on them was a great way for us to throw down and celebrate with a lot of the people who have supported us, who we look up to, and also to connect with people we’ve never worked with prior.
Also, marbles as objects are just incredible. Perfect spheres with each artists unique style encompassed within them is an amazing way to highlight the skill and talent of the current generation of glass artists. In a way the orb acts as a canvas for each artist to express themself and their style. This show features artists who have worked with glass ranging from under a year, to over 50 years. And each one of them will bring their own unique inspiration to the table in the form of an orb. Their passion for glass art trapped in time in a perfectly round object that when cared for properly can last longer than any of us will live and can be passed on for generations.
I guess it’s no surprise that the lineup of artists is too long to even fit in a single post. Even with just the names it’s too much text. So this photo encompasses the updated lineup of all of the artists who will be a part of this celebration.
