Once upon a time, a rebellious decided it didn't like living in the six-string world and set off to experience life in a lower register.
Little did he know, at the same time and half a world away, a lonely gazed longingly over the horizon, hoping a handsome, treble-soaked knight would one day sweep her off her feet.
As fate would have it, these two were indeed star-crossed. Unlike the tragedies of the Renaissance, their courtship ended blissfully, and they were blessed with a child...
Meet [CAD drawings of] the EastStreet Rosebud Mk. III. Truly a jack of all trades, it sports two independent circuits, offering a wide range of tonal possibilities, perfectly suited for anyone from the punk-rocker to the studio bassist.
Like a JM, it has a switchable "rhythm" circuit, activating only the hand-wound (by me, of course) P-Bass pickup through a passive, vintage-spec tone circuit with independent volume and tone roller-knobs.
When switched to the "treble" circuit, both the P-Bass and a -style pickup feed into a three-band, active preamp. Both pickups can be selected independently, or run in parallel, by way of a three-way toggle switch. Truly a unique bass amongst its peers. I have been dreaming of and designing this circuit for over two years, and I finally worked out the kinks!
And, as timing would have it, being that announced their reunion and upcoming tour, I decided to make a tribute version in honor of one of the bassists responsible for my love of the instrument. Like many basses owned and played by , this version has a reversed Quarter Pound P-Bass pickup. I'll pair that with a Duncan SMB-4A MusicMan pickup. A true punk machine, if there ever was one!
