Anne Lamott is one of this publisher’s favorite writers. She’s an important author and other things too, and I just really like her.
She has a blog somewhere called Hallelujah Anyway and I hold an unpaid subscription to it.
Today she wrote about looking around in the darkness for the light and perhaps not seeing it means you’re the light.
Oof, I think. It gives me the feeling of being the batter stepping up to the plate with all the bases loaded, my team is behind and I’ve been hitting fouls balls and striking out all day too.
Thankfully though it normally only means one thing for me—surrender.
And that’s when I’m the most powerful, accurate, and reliable. Even if I muck it all up, that’s when I do my best and accept my best is good enough-no matter what. Seriously, no matter what.
It reminds me that if I’m the light in the darkness this time, it’s because my Higher Power already knows the answer, and that’s that.
THE END.
