Eid Mubarak from your local bookstore! Whether you celebrate or not, know that today is another day to make worthwhile.
Today, Mavey Books owners have the day off as we hang out with family and friends, play Catan, and stuff ourselves with locally baked sweets and backyard barbecue. Some of us will take time out and spend the day reading and enjoying the company of, oh, so many interesting fictional characters in our books, with the banter of our company in the background.
Eid is a time - like most other holidays - where we try to do a reset and be mindful about our choices, who we keep in our circles, what we spend our time doing, and a deeper consideration of how to be of service and care to others aka decide what footprint we want to leave.
Today is also a time to go through your bookshelves, pull a few books, and make a plan to dig into the growing pile, building new alliances and making new friends. The new friends might be fictional and the stories have happy endings, but our books help make us who we are, see the world in a brighter and clearer light, and give us hope.
We hope you have a great day, take some time out to read and think, and find ways to build community and make this space safer and warmer.
