Very Large Piece about 9" x 7.5" with 2 Large Masses of Tephroite with Very Intricate Patterns of Exsolution Willemite, Each with Distinct Patterns!

Also Present are Non-Fluorescent Very Large, Partial Franklinite Crystals to 4"+ Across & Massive Pale Pink Kutnahorite!

Hokkaidoite inclusions in Opal under LW UV! Extremely bright & colorful, even with ambient daylight!

Largest piece is approximately 5.9 cms across! I'll be keeping the big one for our collection, and probably another piece, but we will have most of the others available!

We will be at Ultraviolation this Saturday as well, so we can bring these or any other pieces there to save on shipping too!

Hokkaidoite, or "Hokkaido Stone", is an organic mineral, found in Shikaribetsu Lake, Shikaoi (Shikaoi-Chō), Kato District, Tokachi Subprefecture, Hokkaidō Prefecture, Japan, and just recently discovered in 2023! According to Mindat, it is most likely a Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon (PAH), possibly anthanthrene or benzo[ghi]perylene, but there are at least 20 more possibilities. It is the first polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon mineral discovered in Japan. It was approved & registered for naming by the International Mineralogical Association (IMA) in January, and then presented at the Japan Geoscience Union Meeting later in 2023.

The areas where Hokkaido Stone is found are protected and not open to the public. Some specimens are gradually making their way into the market over time, but are still quite limited in supply.
