Several months ago, we shared the incredible story of James Black - a Texas police officer and ASP Instructor - who survived an encounter that took unimaginable turns, all in the span of 19 seconds.

Last week, ASP Trainer Kristi Wuensche went to the Texas Tech Police Department to present Officer Black with a custom display box we built for the Sentry Cuffs and Exo Cases he wore the night of the attack. As the original story reported, these were the only tools on his belt that survived the incident completely.

We are grateful that Officer Black is well along in his recovery and back to work at his department. His never-give-up mentality exemplifies ASP's training ethos, and we are privileged to share his story and honor him.

ASP's new C-Series line of flashlights was recently featured in Safariland's Cadre Dispatch blog.

"Long known for producing duty‑focused tools used widely in law enforcement, ASP has consolidated 11 models, spanning everyday carry, duty, and specialized applications, into a unified operating system. This common framework allows personnel to transition between lights without retraining, supporting consistent muscle memory and reducing the likelihood of user error under stress or in low‑visibility conditions."

Learn more about our new Push Knife in this article from Tim Stetzer.

"Folding knives are probably the most commonly carried type of knife. However, there’s an argument to be made for fixed blades in general, and ones that don’t require gross motor skills."

The ASP PDK Push Knife isn't the be-all, end-all solution for weapons retention, but it is another tool you can have in your tool kit.
