Note: This guitar is one of a kind, hand-built right here in the good ‘ole U.S. of A (except for the neck). The body is constructed from an incredibly old plank found on a farm in the Appleton area. From the smell of it during construction, it is assumed to be from an old chicken coop. Thus the name. The finish covers up the smell, BTW. The nails that you see in the front of the body were pulled out of the board and reinserted before finishing. They are old square, blacksmith nails.
Don’t be fooled by the appearance, this guitar is built to PLAY! The CRL switch and CTS pots are smooth operating and noise-free. The treble bleed circuit prevents the loss of treble when you turn the volume down. A very common problem in many guitars. Leo Fender was a brilliant man and he designed some classic guitars, the Telecaster being one of them. Having spent most of my life in mechanical design, I know that concessions are made to make manufacturing more efficient and affordable. Leo’s telecaster bridge was cheap to produce and did the job but perfect intonation was hard to achieve. Adjusting the intonation for two strings at the same time is just… wrong. Sorry Leo. The Wilkinson Adjustable Compensated Bridge is more expensive but allows the saddles to be rotated for better intonation while keeping the original Tele sound. I chose the Tusq string trees because they are Teflon impregnated and the strings will not bind and create tuning problems.
A very old appearance coupled with modern technology makes the Chikincaster!
