Gas-powered lawn equipment may be a relic before 2030 under legislation proposed in the state Senate.

S.7462, sponsored by Sen. Pete Harckham, D-Peekskill, all sales of lawn mowers, w**d whackers or other trimmers, leaf vacuums, mulchers, chainsaws, leaf blowers and tree trimmers in New York state should be zero-emissions by 2027. Harckham wants the state Economic Development, Environmental Conservation and Public Service Commission, as well as other state and local agencies, to develop a plan by Jan. 1, 2023, to achieve his 2027 goal for zero-emission lawn care.

Harckham’s new bill (S.7462) will amend the state’s energy law to require zero emission “lawn care devices” by 2027, which will include any device powered mechanically and intended to be used or actually used for “the mowing of grass, the cutting or chopping of trees, tree roots, or tree branches, or the clearing of leaves or other vegetation from lawns, sidewalks, public streets or public highways and shall include, but not be limited to, such devices as lawn mowers and lawn mower attachments, lawn edgers, leaf blowers, leaf vacuums, mulchers, and chippers.”

Well this is stupid, pure stupid.

Gov of NY needs to reflect the state, not just the city. He must allow local control to covid-19. Here is why:
New York is 30% of US cases but subtract downstate and 4 hot counties, leaves the balance of the state at 4.2% of US cases.
In Broome county as an example, the highest city has 28 cases and 6 cites have no cases.
There are several NY counties with very low number of cases, the low being 3 cases.
This balance of 50 counties of NY's 62 counties as a whole when added and compared to NY is 15% of NY total, or put another way 81% of NY counties carries only 15% of the cases.

Stay safe one and all! In that direction, although we are qualified to stay open per the latest rules, we are making a list of those in desire of preventive maintenance. We will tackle repairs of need as normal. By pushing preventive work out, we will minimize exposure.

Well, like it or not the grass will grow soon - greening up here now. Still a chance of snow - hope it runs! Hope the power does not go out with all the issues in the world - but if that generator runs - you will be OK.
