This listing is for twelve (12) 20L paua shell buttons that are or 0.5" or 12.5mm in diameter.

Paua is a species of abalone shell (Haliotis iris) found only in the cold waters of southern New Zealand. The coloring varies from shell to shell and has an amazing iridescence. The lighting in the photos above does not do justice to the array of colors found in these buttons.

Paua shell buttons are made from cut and tumbled paua shells. The government of New Zealand strictly controls the harvesting of abalone for food. The shells are a natural by-product.

Non-Native Smoked Moosehide (28 sq ft).
This is a traditionally brain-tanned and smoked moose hide.
This hide was tanned and smoked using a traditional brain-tanning process using real veal brains. Very few people are making true brain-tanned hides any more. The hide is prepared by a European enthusiast of real leather living in Canada. It is NOT native made.

This hide has a smoky smell and is supple and flexible.
This is a whole hide with some holes, blemishes, and scratches on the leather.

Width across the middle: 48"

The freshwater clam shell hair pipe is the same shape as the regular bone hairpipe. Please note that the holes on the clam shell hairpipe are much smaller than those in the bone hairpipe. Think of these as spaghetti beads. You will not be able to string these with deerskin.
