We are home from Mexico and starting to unpack all of the amazing finds from the trip. This is one of the pieces I bought for my personal collection and I am totally in love with it - but I wanted to show everyone in case you need one of these too?!

I have already helped a few customers find perfect gifts since we closed by sending photos back and forth until we get it just right.

Blanca Flor started with a 19 year old’s dream. This free spirited girl was studying abroad and hitchhiking her way through Mexico when she fell in love with a Mexican man (my father) but more than that fell in love with the country of Mexico. With the rich artistry and traditions, with the warm and beautiful culture, and with the stunning sterling silver craft that you have seen in our shop for over 33 years.

Over the past 33 years Donna has created the Blanca Flor brand and had over 5 locations in different areas throughout the DMV area but the one at 34 Market Space has been our mainstay for the last 3 decades. She recently sold the building in downtown Annapolis so that she could move into her next chapter and her well deserved retirement and that is the reason that we closed our beautiful shop last month.

I’ve grown up in Blanca Flor since I was a baby. Going on buying trips to Mexico, working in the shop as a teenager, and ultimately managing the business for her. I am so grateful to have learned from the best and to continue to carry on this beautiful legacy for another 30 years. Stay tuned for our next location!

But until then, I wanted to take a moment to wish Donna, my mom, a happy retirement. I know she would love to hear any happy memories that Blanca Flor has brought you over the years. Bringing smiles to our customer’s faces & sharing the beauty of artisan designs and the rich culture of Mexico has been so meaningful to her. We are both so grateful for all of the love you have shown us and for your continued support on this journey and evolution of the Blanca Flor brand.

Yesterday I posted a little bit about my favorite travel pieces and I got some messages asking about what I travel with, how I pack it, and how I choose? So here it is!

Can you believe that all of these pieces (except the collar and sunglasses) fit into that tiny travel jewelry box?! Who says you can’t bring an amazing collection on the go 🪎.

When I travel I love to bring an assortment of rings and earrings which can completely change up my look depending on what I pair together. I make sure to have plenty of hoops, and then a mix of modern and vintage styles for whatever mood I am in.

Oaxaca. Corazón y Alma. Heart & Soul.
That’s how we truly experienced it and felt it.

I came to Oaxaca as a young child a few times and it left an impression on me. I somehow kept strong memories of it through to adulthood and it was so incredible to be able to bring my family back with me this past week to experience it all over again in a completely new way.

This past week left our hearts so full with memories that will last a lifetime and has created full travel bugs out of my children. From connecting with amazing artisans and taking the time to slow down and work with our hands, to experiencing surprise parades around what felt like almost every corner, to all of the delicious & nourishing foods, to the incredible warmth we experienced from everyone we met- we will never forget this trip.

Thank you to Lily at Indigenous woman owned in Oaxaca, Mex for providing us with the very special opportunity to learn from different artisans and experience Oaxaca’s culture in a thoughtful way. More to come on this!

If we've never met, I thought this was the perfect time to introduce myself.

I'm Sofia.

While many of you knew my mom, Donna, from our storefront in Historic Annapolis, my story with Blanca Flor began long before I ever became its owner.

Blanca Flor has never just been a business to me.

It's been part of my life for as long as I can remember.

That's why being here feels like coming home.

This isn't simply a buying trip.

It's returning to the people and places that have shaped Blanca Flor for decades.

These trips have always been about so much more than discovering beautiful pieces.

They're about reconnecting with artisans, hearing their stories, celebrating their craftsmanship, and continuing relationships that now span generations.

Today, I get to experience that with my own children, making these traditions even more meaningful.

For as long as I can remember, Blanca Flor has been built on relationships, craftsmanship, and discovering beautiful pieces with meaning. While many of those relationships began in Mexico decades ago, the heart of Blanca Flor has never been about one place.

It's about the people, the artistry, and the stories behind every piece we choose to share with you.

Right now, I'm continuing that tradition—meeting with artisans, exploring workshops, discovering remarkable craftsmanship, and searching for pieces that feel uniquely Blanca Flor.

Each collection is carefully curated, not simply purchased. Every piece has a story, a maker, and a reason it becomes part of Blanca Flor.

While I'm away, the online boutique remains open. Orders will begin shipping as soon as I return, and I truly appreciate your patience.
