The first collection is a sleek, all black look. I have a few 7’0” Medium Heavy, Moderate Fast Action casting rods available today in this style. These poles feature a graphite blank that is super sensitive and strong. These blanks are also well known for being light as a feather, weighing only 1 oz. Paired with premium EVA foam grips, these are sure to be the lightest, most comfortable poles in your rod box. This allows you to fish longer, with less fatigue.
An oversized hook keeper will hold your bait solid on the rod in storage or on the front deck. You’ll never have to worry about lures coming unhooked from the rod and causing massive tangles. This will save you a lot of time and make fishing easier in the long run.
Moving up to the guides, increased sensitivity and excellent line tracking come from the Titanium Oxide design on these elite series guides. Titanium Oxide is thinner and stronger than traditional guides, making them ultra sensitive and durable. They are also extremely lightweight.
One key feature about HB’s Custom Rods that differs from factory rods is the spine. Each rod blank has a spine that the pole naturally bends to. Most factory poles are built on the blank's straightest axis, which is not always on the spine. This means that if the rod is built off-spine, it will naturally want to twist in your hand to find the spine when you set the hook. This hurts overall hook-up ratio and makes the fishing day more tiring as your hands are subconsciously fighting the constant twist of the pole. HB’s Custom Rods are built on the spine every time, allowing for better hook ups and less fatigue at the end of the day.
This whole adventure has been a big science experiment for me and has been in the works for almost two years.
