So today I finished my first project of an online art class. I stepped out of my comfort zone and am taking a class on abstract art. I did 2 paintings. One following instruction and 2 trying my own variation. My work has much the feel of a kindergartener, but I am learning new things and I am painting!

Today I am starting a creative journey with artist, Wyanne Thompson. Learning from other artists is enriching and teaches new skills, and brings about new ways of looking at things. One of the most daunting things, for me, can be a blank canvas. I am excited to start filling canvases again in my little porch. Will post September's 1st project as soon as completed.

Almost 2 years sincemy last post and Shabby Porch is finally getting a make over. Lots left to do to get her pretty again, but at least she's in progress. The story when we bought the house was that the sellers said there was a letter from a little girl that grew up in the house and what a wonderful house it was and she hoped that they would love the house as much as she had. The letter further stated the porch had been added by the bride's parents as a wedding present. The sellers never found the letter for me, but. I feel the love in this house and especially the sun porch. I think I know from the houses history who that little girl was and the porch is almost 75 years old. The old pine is beautiful under the layers of paint I removed. I only hope I can bring out the beauty of that pine and preserve it for generations to come and future owners to admire.
