Hey friends, last week has been a lot to process and still have a lot going on plus celebrating my dadā€™s 80th this weekend and a wedding next weekend. So Iā€™ll be taking a break from the flower stand these next two weeks, taking some time to recollect myself. Thank you for understanding. šŸ’ž

Itā€™s been a devastating week for so manyā€” not just in our community, but surrounding cities and counties. Itā€™s the worst flooding weā€™ve had, breaking the previous 1913 record. Forced evacuations, submerged vehicles, homes, and businesses, denied insurance claims, loss of powerā€” itā€™s a heaviness and grief Iā€™ve carried with me this week. Just yesterday morning, a desperate mom was asking for help. Her and another mother and their seven children had just been forced to evacuate. If I can just be vulnerable and honestā€” tā€™s in these times that I feel so inadequate, so small. Yet I am grateful for the Salvation Army and surrounding churches that are providing food and shelter. I donā€™t know how far this flooding has reached but please pray for those whoā€™ve been affected by this tragedy.

This dahlia is sheer perfection! Yā€™all itā€™s after 2pm on Friday and Iā€™m just getting started on the bouquets for tomorrow. So in case you were wondering if the flower stand would be open tomorrowā€” it will be! Iā€™ve just spent the majority of the morning picking up limbs around the property and identifying dahlias this afternoon. I am grateful that, in spite of the severe flooding, the flowers are blooming prolifically. Thereā€™s so much that needs done, but in these times when nothing really ā€œgets doneā€ I try to touch base with the things that arenā€™t completely out of control. Itā€™s just maintaining to the best of my ability at this point in the seasonā€” letting go of what I canā€™t control (the weeds) and certainly not aiming for perfection.

In my devotional yesterday I was reminded that, ā€œThe more you focus on My Presence with you, the more fully you can enjoy life.ā€ Itā€™s not about what we accomplish, but Who is always with us in the midst of it all that brings true joy.
