I’ve been getting a lot of messages asking where i’ve been, why i’m not posting, what’s going on?
I hope this post can clear all of that up for you because a lot of you have been in my DMs.
First of all YES your girl is alive and well lol I just don’t have as much willpower to create lately as I am pending divorce along with a multitude of other factors. Compass Rows is still open via Etsy and Ravelry and since the season will soon conclude as the weather warms up everything is on sale in both. I will continue to run these sales until all physical items are gone. Word of mouth is powerful, so if you could please share my sales along to your friends that would be really appreciated. At some point I will get back into the swing of things and start creating again when I am ready, just taking a break for now. Thanks 😊

I’ve been quiet on here pretty much all season with some major life changes I haven’t been much for creating 🤷🏼‍♀️ For now everything on Etsy and Ravelry are both on sale for 40% off 🎉 I am working to clear out stock and shift more into patterns next season. Here is by me knitted with a folded brim using my Aran instructions. I used Malabrigo Mecha here and I couldn’t tell you the name of the variegated to be honest because I use whatever is in my stash 🤷🏼‍♀️ The Resurgence Beanie is written in multiple weights with the option for folded and single brims so you can customize it to make it exactly how you like. I try to make my patterns easily adaptable so you can get different looks and sizes because I want you to get your bang for your buck shopping with Compass Rows. This journey is becoming more about making patterns that can be knit among a multitude of “levels” from a beginner to a seasoned knitter while making the patterns easily accessible and affordable to the community but also offering lux knitwear at an affordable cost to those who don’t or choose not to knit 🧶

I’ve been pretty quiet here lately but i’m trying to get my heart and mind back to creating. life has been extremely heavy for me lately with a lot of big changes. I’ve been ready to get back to creating and designing again. This is one of my favorite beanie patterns and most of my patterns have been adapted for using my all time favorite yarn: malabrigo noventa. I just love the texture, the shine, the quality and the colors ❤️

There’s a good amount of you here now, 👋 Hi thanks for following along with my “little knitting business”
My name is Marika (not america 🤪) and I am a mom to a little girl and a doggo, and a wife that likes to create. I have struggled through the years with mental health and this is my creative outlet that I use to share my knits and patterns while also running an online store front to give both creatives, and consumers a chance to experience the beauty of handmade. I do this because it brings me joy and it’s a hobby a lot of people could never understand. I do it the same reason you like to do the things you do 🤷🏼‍♀️ While on the good old IG I want to inspire and be the role model I can and help people that think they’re not good enough to do this too, you can do whatever you want. No one is “better” than anyone here in my space. We are all here just learning together and helping each other along the way 😌

Lets take a minute to talk about something we all dread…. PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY 📸
I tend to find myself comparing my pictures to others a lot, and also hating my set up/ hating how the photos turn out/ trying to have the best lighting and props and at the end of the day, yes part of this is about how you market your brand and portray it to others but when you shut off the voice in your mind you can actually come up with something cute and its actually original, not just a carbon copy of someone elses IG
Let yourself be creative and stand out from the crowd, this is something i’ve struggled with a lot here but you would be surprised what you can do when you open up your mind and try 🤷🏼‍♀️

The fundraiser at Anchorage Brewing Company for went well last night, Compass Rows was able to raise $303, and it looks like the silent auction raised over $3000 as well, plus the company donated $1 per beer sold 🍺 but our efforts don’t stop here 🙌🏻 Compass Rows will continue to donate 50% of all sales indefinitely and I will also have a shop update over the weekend with an incredible sale you won’t want to miss, so if you missed me at the brewinf company keep your eyes peeled for my online update 😊
