Started in 1977, Stephan Fine Arts is one of Alaska's true treasures, offering mediums and genres as diverse as the people who live here. Stephan's was one of Alaska's first art galleries, initially featuring international artists such as LeRoy Neiman, Norman Rockwell, and Salvador Dali. Over time, Stephan's morphed into a gallery that highlighted local artists, as more adventurous souls moved to

the State, and became inspired by Alaska's vast land and magnificent scenery. Proprietors, Pat and Pam Stephan, were raised in Alaska, and earned many trophies for their dog mushing wins. However, once sunny weather beckoned, and all their five children had moved out of their home, Pat and Pam decided to move to the warm embraces of California, and their daughter, Becky Stephan, took over, bringing a new breath of life into the gallery with ideas and tastes all her own, while retaining the quality and class that her parents had formed. The gallery is now a reflection of Becky's personal tastes, but also those of her clients, who guide many of her decisions in curating a fine collection of originals, fine art prints, bronze sculpture, glass, jewelry, and other mediums, making Stephan's a gallery that is accessible and warm. Stephan's has been located inside the Hotel Captain Cook for over 30 years, and is open every day of the week almost year-round.
