Juneteenth represents the constant struggle to make the aspirational actual. To move toward a “more perfect union.”

So this Juneteenth, I want to put the two stories next to each other.

The graphic below is a side-by-side comparison of what America 250 and Juneteenth each say about freedom, history, and what this anniversary truly represents.

When you think about Juneteenth and the Fourth of July, do you celebrate one, both, or neither? What shapes that decision for you?

Hi everyone! 👋

I am looking to teach seal skin earring-making workshops and would love to connect with organizations, schools, businesses, tribes and native corporations interested in learning.

✨ Is your company looking for a unique team-building activity?

✨ Are you looking for ways to engage your community through hands-on cultural learning?

✨ Do you have students who are interested in skin sewing but would like to start with a smaller project first?

I assemble the kits ahead of time for a smooth and enjoyable workshop experience, and I am willing to travel to your location.

📧 Contact me for a quote or to discuss bringing a workshop to your community!

✨ Connecting to our roots, one stitch at a time. My hands were made to work hard, and so are yours. ✨

Please feel free to share my post because I want it to reach everybody 😅🫶

Happy Obama Appreciation Day! "nothing can stand in the way of millions calling for change" 🫶🏼🙌🏼

I just don't find it funny. My mom and auntie (fm Noorvik and Kiana) taught me not to do it when I was young. I grew up in Kotz and people from there often tease, mock and degrade villagers as if they are greater than them. The accent is one of the main ways others try to humiliate and self boast - it's called weaponized humor and lateral violence.

Now that I've spent over a decade learning our language, I've come to realize that the accent comes directly from it. If you're someone who gets emotional fm trying to speak it outloud, some of that can come from deep (unrealized) shame of sounding like the accent that is consistently made fun of.

It's lazy humor to mock accents! That goes for all accents from around the world.
