Somewhere along the way, we started expecting teachers to do everything except what they trained to do.

Teachers are now expected to educate, mentor, manage, counsel, motivate, document, communicate, plan, and solve problems, often all before the final bell rings.

Every year, new responsibilities are added.

More paperwork.

More meetings.

More documentation.

More data.

More compliance.

More administrative tasks.

More expectations.

But there are still only so many hours in the day.

Most teachers didn't choose this profession because they wanted to spend evenings completing forms or weekends catching up on reports.

They became teachers because they wanted to help children learn.

They wanted to explain difficult concepts, inspire curiosity, build confidence, and watch students grow.

That's still what they want to do today.

The problem isn't that teachers have stopped caring.

It's that too much of their time is spent on everything surrounding teaching instead of teaching itself.

If we want better outcomes for students, we should stop asking teachers to be everything to everyone.

Give them the support they need.

Reduce unnecessary workload.

Trust their professional judgment.

Pay them what they deserve.

And let them spend more of their time doing the one thing they entered the profession to do.

Teach.

This is something that resonates because it is not really about inspections or accountability. It is about trust.

Many teachers do their best work when they are given the freedom to use their experience, creativity, and professional judgment. They adapt lessons, build relationships, and respond to the needs of the students in front of them.

But when teachers feel like every decision is being scrutinized, every lesson has to be justified, and every action has to be documented, the focus can shift from teaching well to simply avoiding mistakes.

Most teachers are not asking for less accountability.

They are asking for the kind of trust that exists in many other professions.

Because a teacher who feels trusted is more likely to innovate, connect with students, and enjoy the work.

A teacher who feels constantly monitored often spends more time protecting themselves than improving learning.

The best schools usually find a balance.

High expectations.
Professional accountability.
And enough trust for teachers to actually do what they were hired to do.

This raises an important question:

Are we creating environments where teachers can do their best work, or environments where they are simply trying to get through the day?

But it raises an important question.

Should schools try to include every student in every setting, no matter the impact on the rest of the class?

Most people would agree that every child deserves support.

Every child deserves dignity.

And every child deserves the opportunity to learn in an environment where they can succeed.

But what happens when meeting the needs of one student significantly affects the learning of everyone else?

Where should schools draw the line?

Should inclusion mean every student remains in the same classroom regardless of circumstances?

Or should schools sometimes consider alternative environments when they believe it would better support both the individual child and the rest of the class?

There are no easy answers.

Every child matters.

Every child deserves support.

And every child deserves the right environment to grow and learn.

🚨 IF PARENTS DON’T RESPECT TEACHERS, CHILDREN WON’T EITHER.

Respect doesn’t start in the classroom. It starts at home.

Children listen closely to how you speak about their teacher.
They notice the tone. The attitude. The blame.

If they hear criticism, they carry it into school.
If they see respect, they mirror it.

You can’t expect authority in the classroom
if it’s being undermined at home.

Teachers can guide. Teach. Support.
But they can’t replace what isn’t reinforced outside school.

Respect for education is built together.
Not shifted from one side to the other.

Stop being their friend. Stop comparing yourself to them. Stop competing with them. Stop breaking up the family home!! B...
