Some of you might not know this, but this is where it all started for us at Harp-E. The kids you see perform in these videos at are from the , an Amsterdam-based NGO dedicated to providing musical instruments to children from underprivileged backgrounds. It was in partnership with them, the Dutch Harp Festival and Delft University of Technology that we developed Harp-E.
the founder of Harp-E and a harpist himself, had by that point already invented and developed which has revolutionised how harps are built and played. And while Delta achieved many things - it was still unaffordable for many.
The idea was simple - to reinvent the expensive parts, the mechanism and the frame completely while using the finest quality strings and a state of the art pickup system. This is what made Harp-E a stage ready instrument for a fraction of the price.
So, together with the kids and the teachers and volunteers of the Leerokest we developed what is now an affordable, flat packed, electric harp that is both extremely durable and lightweight without compromising on the quality of the sound.
Seeing so many children from the Leeorkest and around the world play and enjoy the instrument is one of the biggest honours.
