Antibiotics can be life-saving… but don’t forget they can also wipe out the good bacteria in your gut too. 😳
As both a mom and a pharmacist, when my son Preston started doxycycline for acne, I immediately thought about protecting his gut health while treating his skin.
Why? Because your gut does SO much more than digest food.
✨ About 70% of your immune system lives in the gut
✨ Your microbiome helps support inflammation balance
✨ Gut health can influence skin, mood, energy, and overall wellness
That’s why I always recommend supporting the gut during and after antibiotics.
Not all probiotics are the same either. I personally prefer a QUALITY multistrain probiotic because your gut is home to trillions of different bacteria — diversity matters.
Preston is taking Ortho Biotic® from Ortho Molecular Products, which also contains Saccharomyces boulardii, a well-researched probiotic known to help crowd out unwanted bacteria during antibiotic use.
And don’t forget:
🌱 If probiotics are the seeds… prebiotics are the soil.
You have to FEED the good bacteria too:
✔️ Chia seeds
✔️ Ground flaxseeds
✔️ Psyllium husk
✔️ Fruits & veggies
✔️ Fermented foods
These fibers nourish your beneficial bacteria and help them thrive.
