In the late 1800’s, a young German immigrant arrived in America with a dream in his heart and his most cherished possession in his pocket-an Old World recipe for pretzels. It was November 18, 1911 when Adolph Benzel stepped from a boxcar in Altoona, PA and soon acquired space to begin Benzel’s Bretzel Bakery. Still family owned, Benzel’s Bretzel Bakery produces some of the most delicious pretzels you have ever tasted and still proudly still utilizes Grandpa Benzel’s original recipe
