Jacaranda trees (Jacaranda mimosifolia) in South Africa are iconic, non-native trees from South America that turn cities like Johannesburg and Pretoria into purple-hued landscapes every spring (late September to November). Introduced in the 19th century, they are particularly associated with Pretoria, known as the "Jacaranda City," which hosts over 65,000 of them. Though classified as invasive, they are cherished for their beauty and are legally allowed in urban areas.

Arriving 2/7, these stunning mud cloth textiles will make a beautiful addition to any home, available in various forms such as blankets, table runners, and more. Bògòlanfini, or mud cloth, is a traditional Malian handmade cotton fabric colored with fermented, iron-rich mud and natural dyes, dating back to the 12th century. Created by artisans in West Africa, these unique, durable textiles feature symbolic, geometric patterns reflecting cultural, social, and historical stories. Key Aspects of Mudcloth (Bògòlanfini) Production: Handwoven, narrow strips of cotton are sewn together, then painted with designs using natural dyes and fermented mud. The process involves painting, drying in the sun, and washing over several weeks to achieve rich, dark earth tones. Symbolism: Patterns often represent cultural narratives, proverbs, and beliefs, traditionally passed down through generations. Techniques: Artisans use resist-dyeing, often using leaves and bark for base colors, followed by painting with mud. Uses: Traditionally worn by hunters for camouflage and as protective garments, it is now widely used for fashion, home decor, and wall hangings.
