New Rebeats Release: My Life In Percussion: Five Decades In The Music Products Industry by Karl Dustman Hard Cover and Paperback. This book can be ordered through the Rebeats site, Ebay, or Reverb. This memoir by Karl Dustman details his illustrious music industry career. Dustman began his professional career as a sales forecaster for IBM. This led to an executive position with Ludwig Drum Company where he spent 11 years in the marketing and educational departments. Executive-level stints with Gretsch, Hohner-Sabian-Sabian, Pearl, and Sonor gave Karl great insight into the percussion industry of the 1980s and 1990s, which he shares here in intimate detail. Striking out on his own as a consultant, Karl worked not only with numerous music-industry clients, but other businesses which further developed his skill set. Along the way, Karl authored numerous articles to share his percussion marketing expertise; many are included in the book's appendix. Also included are capsule histories of the Ludwig and Gretsch drum companies, and a good look at the inner workings of the Percussion Marketing Council. Pretty much anyone who has worked in the percussion industry over the last five decades has crossed paths with Karl Dustman.

If you want some mood-setting Christmas music, check out Ed Hartman's "Marimbells of Christmas". I got a copy of the CD from Ed at a PASIC show when it came out 25 years ago and not a Christmas season goes by that I don't enjoy it. In observation of the 25th anniversary of the release, Ed has uploaded the entire CD to Youtube and added images.

Happy Holidays from Ed Hartman! In honor of the 25th Anniversary of the release of "Marimbells of Christmas", I have put together the complete album on video...

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has a great new library and archive facility. It is open by appointment to researchers and occasionally opens to the general public for special exhibitions. I recently visited them and donated a set of my books. Librarian Laura Mains is pictured here with The Gretsch Drum Book.

Hal Blaine And The Wrecking Crew has just gone into a new printing, which is the 4th total and third Rebeats edition. There is very little change from the prior printing- same ISBN and title page etc. The only change in the content was the correction of about 15 typos. There has been a recent surge in sales, evidently spurred by the recent release of Denny Tedesco's Wrecking Crew documentary and Brian Wilson's movie "Love And Mercy."
