We read “press on” and think… try harder.
But that’s not what Paul is saying.
This verse is layered.
“Press on” → intentional pursuit
“Goal” → a fixed target
“Prize” → something of eternal value
Paul isn’t chasing success.
He’s not chasing comfort.
He’s chasing Christ Himself.
He’s writing this from prison.
This isn’t theory.
This is lived, tested faith.
So the real question isn’t:
Am I doing enough?
It’s:
✨ What is my life actually aimed at?
✨ What is pulling my focus away?
Because what we pursue… shapes everything.
I turned this into a printable for our Philippians study, breaking down the verse, the Greek meanings, and cross-references so you can really see what’s happening in the text.
