There is a neighborhood in Bogota, Colombia called the Candelaria. Along with beautiful old buildings and great restaurants, it is packed with gem dealers, specifically Emerald dealers. When one is looking for high quality Emeralds, Colombia’s various mines produce the world’s best. A Colombian Emerald’s bright green color is incomparable to other country’s stones. Although Brazil and Zambia produce beautiful gems, there is always a hint of blue in their coloration. Only Colombia produces stones with that pure jungle green sparkle. Over the past 30 years I’ve walked the streets of the Candelaria many times, as Bogota is a wonderful hub to visit many of the wilderness destinations in this beautiful country. Hey everyone. I’m going to move my next gem, fine collectibles and antiques show to about a month later, November 22nd. My father’s been sick and it’s taken all my time. He’s much better, but I need sufficient prep time for the show. Anne’s putting a few small antiques up for sale along with our regular amazing inventory.
