Another Band Brother passes on to that great stage in the sky :

Ronnie "Ronnie" Cox Obituary
Funeral services for Mr. Ronald “Ronnie” Cox will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024, in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, with Reverend Danny George officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Gardens, Po***ck, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.

Ronald “Ronnie” Cox, age 84, passed away on October 14, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. Ronnie was born to Reverend Curtis and Beatrice Goble Cox of Martin, Kentucky.

Although born in Kentucky, he was raised in West Virginia. Ronnie graduated from Bramwell High School. Later, with his family, he moved to Pineville and attended Louisiana College, where he majored in music.

While Ronnie loved many things throughout his life, music was what he loved most. Ronnie found joy in music and in teaching others to love it as well. He was Band Director at Bordelonville High School and Oak Hill High School for many years. Ronnie enjoyed playing music at Dimples (Natchez) and The Corner Bar (Natchez). He spent years of his life playing in bands such as the Blue Bayou Band, The Capri’s, and The Boogie Kings. He even had the pleasure of going on tour with Percy Sledge as part of the band, The Sledgehammers. If Ronnie was awake, he was humming, singing, tapping his toes, playing the piano or trumpet, and was even known to make music on children’s toys. All of Paw Paw Ronnie’s grandchildren and great grandchildren have sweet memories of sitting beside him at the piano, as he sang and instructed them how to play along. His hobbies also included fishing and basketball.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Curtis and Beatrice Cox; one brother, Darrel Cox; and one niece, Shannon Cox Gorham.

Ronnie is survived by his twin daughters, Melonie Cox of Po***ck, and Tammie Cox Gagnard of Po***ck; three sons, Steven Cox (Scarlet) of Ball, Ron Cox of Natchez, Mississippi and Landon Cox of Alexandria; ten grandchildren, Brandi Guidry (David), Christopher Duhon (Karley), Chase Jeansonne, Josh Gagnard, Jerred Gagnard (Kalyla), Cameron Cox, Layla Cox, Channing Cox, Kennedy Cox, and Oktober Cox; a host of great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A time of visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, on Friday, October 18, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will resume in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are his grandsons: Chase Jeansonne, Joshua Gagnard, Christopher Duhon, Jerred Gagnard, Cameron Cox, Channing Cox, and Kaiden Vollm.

Ronnie will be sorely missed; he was so easy to love. His quirky sense of humor always kept those around him giggling. He was a generous and kind man who showed his love to others by taking care of all those who needed him. His love for music and others will live on through all those who knew him.

I’ve had those nights and I’ve had those days

I’ve had a life worth living.

I found a place, I can live and stay

I’m moving to heaven.

Remembering one of the most Humble & Inspiring musicians I know. Johnny Giordano has now gone to that great stage in the sky to join other legends.
One of the few that still kicked keyboard bass : Johnny G had an amazing flavor to his arrangements and chord structures.
He would always share his favorite tunes on CD with his buddies.
And you can bet it was a highly treasured collection of "musicians" music!
It is worth noting that his daughter was quite a vocalist as well.
I had the golden opportunity to record her in my studio many years ago.
Play on brother Johnny --- You will be missed by your many past band mates and family.
