The cherry bookshelves are done! This was one of the largest projects from this past year, and an incredible project from start to finish. The bookshelves are 100% solid Pennsylvania cherry, hand-finished with Fiddie’s wax, and joined with the Lamello Zeta P2 system for completely hidden fasteners. The crown and base were custom built to match the existing base and crown in the same room, and painted to match the existing baseboards. This will become the backdrop of a home office, and is a project that we want to show off again and again. What can Piedmont Woodshop do for you?

Bespoke made, vertical maple strip tambour panels topped with a solid rock maple ledge! This was a lot of fun to both build and install, and makes a stunning headboard panel for this bedroom. What can Piedmont Woodshop do for you?

Sneak preview of our next project- custom-built solid cherry bookshelves! These were an interesting project that utilized nearly every one of our favorite tools and tricks, from the CNC cutting out those complicated corner shelves and all of the pin holes, to the Lamello P2 system to join these sections together with rock-solid connections. Finished in Fiddies English wax, these will hopefully be installed soon, and with more to come for these beauties.

Proud Daddy moment here- my daughter came into the woodshop over the last two weeks and learned how to make cutting boards! The first set of sold boards are hers, with three beautiful cherry boards and one walnut. It inspired me to get back to it as well, and I knocked out some of the larger mixed boards and diagonal cherry in the second photo. These will be going up for sale soon, so hit me up if you are interested!

Installed this amazing spalted maple bench and wall boards today for a customer’s mudroom. We milled all of it from a single slab of kiln-dried maple slab, preserving the live edge on the bench and legs. Added some ambrosia maple bow ties for support, and finished in a satiny clear Aquaspar finish, this bench will be a beautiful and functional addition to this home forever. Installed this amazing cabinet today. The lower cabinet went in a couple weeks ago to allow the counter to be installed, and the completed upper cabinet went in today. Custom built to the corner, with inset wire doors, recessed LED lighting in the wired cabinets, and an inset drawer, finished in our shop with Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black. All wire and brass hardware was custom installed as well, most of it being done on-site today! What can Piedmont Woodshop do for you?

Built these barn stairs today, which is cool, but what I really wanted to show off is the last photo. That is the total waste from all of that wood for the entire run of stairs. Very efficient!

Finished up this laundry room job today- washer/dryer surround, floating shelves (with Sheppard Brackets, of course), and some very cool angled shelves and 1/2” uprights all made possible using the hidden joinery of the Lamello P System. So very cool. Everything is finished with cabinet-grade paint job in Sherwin Williams Dorian Grey. All doors and false fronts were supplied bare by Northern Contours, and we built the face frames out of maple. Definitely a challenging project, but damn, we make it look so easy! Very proud to see our trophy base in it’s final form today at the Upperville Daffodil Show. Perhaps it’s telling that the Piedmont Garden Club took home first place for this amazing arrangement, while Piedmont Woodshop supplied the trophy!

OK, so big news here in the shop. We are officially debuting our new line of modular challenge coin shelves! Each horizontal section of the shelf is a separate piece that can be connected to the sections above and below, allowing someone to custom-build their own shelf for their coin collection and memorabilia. Built out of solid sapele mahogany in our shop in the USA, these are a must-have for anyone with a growing collection of challenge coins!

Bespoke range hood! Customer wanted to upgrade from the builder-grade glass and steel exhaust hood, so we built and painted this to an exact match of the current cabinetry. While most range hoods have capped borders and/or molding, ours did not. We built this as a clean box, fully mitered corners at ever possible intersection, and built within a millimeter of tolerance for the space. The unit has a custom fit Broan ventilation unit capable of 600 CFM of airflow, LED lighting, and WiFi control. What can Piedmont Woodshop do for you?

On occasion, I actually do some projects for my family! This one was unique- ever since my son was around 4, he has asked for Legos for every birthday, Christmas, shopping spree, and anything in between. To say that this collection has gotten out of control was an understatement. To wrangle these thousands of little plastic building blocks, I built and painted this custom shelving system for his room. How big is it? See the second photo. Still not sure how we got it through the hallway and into his room! What can Piedmont Woodshop do for you and your kid’s Lego collection?

What a way to wrap up the week- custom waterfall corner shelves made out of matched pieces of live-edge walnut. Custom scribed to the wall and cabinet, and installed without any visible fasteners, these beautifully figured walnut crotch boards are set 20” apart and create a beautiful accent into this corner.
