Propylene glycol has been used since 1927 as a disinfectant, in 1943 several devices for the atomization of glycols were designed as during World War II the risk of a biological attack was latent, also, scientist were concerned about the potential of having outbreaks of influenza, as those that happened in the battle field during World War I (Spanish Flu).
During the world war II, several studies were carried out with glycols, viruses and bacteria under the control of the US Army.
Theodore Puck was one of the scientist that received direct funding from the commission on air-born infections, as part of the Army Epidemiological Board, in the Preventative Medicine Service at the Office of the Surgeon’s General in the US Army.
The scientist involved in these studies worked extensively with glycols, in particular Propylene Glycol (PG) in v***r phases, they elaborated several papers from 1938 until 1949.
These scientist discover that PG suspended in the air, at concentrations of 0.2 mg per Liter were sufficient to kill bacteria with very rough cellular walls such as the Staphylococcus Albins, and even viruses such as the Influenzae.
The IV paper intended to find mechanism of effective atomization using coil systems, however small portable batteries were not yet invented, as well as controlled circuit mechanisms for controlled heat.
After World War II, the fears of a pandemic or biological warfare relaxed, so further developments in this field stopped.
However, Hon Lik in 2003 designed a system that effectively induced atomization of a system of glycols (Glycerine and Propylene Glycol) liquids that due to their differences on v***r pressures and differential boiling points enable optimalatomizationat lower temperatures. This system is what we call today E-Cigarettes.
Glycols have been used for more than 100 years in several products for human consumption, one of the reasons why they are used, is due to its marked antimicrobial properties.
There have been a lot of misconceptions about the potential effects that cloud va**ng release can have in the environment, however, given the rather immense proportion of glycols (VG and PG) in the emissions of a v**er, opposite to your believe those emissiones are far cleaner and more sterile than his/her emissions when he/she is not va**ng.
Now if you feel you want to blame a v**er for Covid19. Study the chemistry of glycols in gas phases and their marked antimicrobial effects even at lower concentrations in the environment.
I rather have a v**er who happens to be covid19 + and v**e, than a person that refuses to wear a facemask.
