This is only the second bloom of Glenmarc Skye (it's a little rough), but I'm already in love. She is so big and beautiful and she does the best wrap around in the back. Watching her unfold has been so fun. She takes a while but she's definitely worth the wait.

Thank you, Sandia National Labs, for allowing me to share. Work/life balance wasn’t—and honestly still isn’t—my strong point. For me, being passionate about what you’re doing is what brings the greatest amount of satisfaction. Whether it’s managing project, herding cats (IYKYK), or growing dahlias, do it with your whole heart and soul. There is nothing wrong with being consumed by work, especially when you know it matters. 💕

The new season brings longer days and warmer weather for gardeners like Amy Matteucci. Amy formerly served as an engineering program lead at Sandia and grows a field of dahlias at the Rio Grande Community Farm.

“Starting something from nothing — take a seed, some dirt, add a little water and watch it grow,” Amy said. “It’s a powerful confidence builder.”

A heartfelt thank you to all who purchased during our online sale. I know it was fast. I have 20 days to complete shipping, finish packing my house, facilitate the rehoming of two foster dogs, and sell my house while continuing to propagate some amazing new varieties while trying to say goodbye to 30 years worth of friends. There is no good time to move a business, so thank you for your patience and continued support.

We are preparing all orders for shipping and local pickup. Local customers will receive an email with information this week. We plan to ship on Monday at the latest.

The La Vida Dahlia website will be temporarily unavailable while I work through some potential inventory management issues. It appears that my attempts to use an Order Merging application may have impacted the number of varieties available.

The very last thing we want is to oversell and then have to refund disappointed customers.

Thank you for our patience as I sort through the data and reach out to customers, if affected. In the meantime, no news is good news.
