Ever wonder why it’s called Little Market on the Prairie?

When we first started this market, the vision was simple — create a small, welcoming outdoor market that felt right at home in our rural community. The word “Prairie” reflects the open skies, country setting, and slower pace that make shopping here feel a little different than a busy city market. It’s about gathering outside, enjoying the fresh air, and supporting makers in a place that feels authentic to where we live.

The word “Little” was intentional too. We wanted a curated market — one that highlights handmade goods, small businesses, and thoughtfully made products instead of large commercial or direct sales vendors. It may be “little” compared to some markets, but that’s part of what makes it special. Every vendor is carefully chosen so shoppers can discover unique items and truly support small makers.

And while the name says little, the market itself is growing in a big way. Each year more vendors, more shoppers, and more community come together on the prairie — and we couldn’t be more grateful to see it continue to grow.

Vendor applications for this year’s market are still open, and we’re always excited to discover new makers who want to be part of Little Market on the Prairie. 🌾

One of my favorite things about hosting Little Market on the Prairie is watching small businesses have really successful days 🤍

With around 450 shoppers attending last year, our community continues to show up in such a big way.
