I have been reading some post from friends and hearing people talk about the deals they got online or the ease of shopping in their pj's. Believe me I understand that and I don't mean to come across as preachy. BUT, every dollar spent online does not go to the retailer in your town. The retailer in your town that pays taxes that support the infrastructure of your state. The retailer in your town that pays local employees, who spend their paycheck locally. The retailer in your town that donates to your school auctions. The retailer in your town that works hard to bring you unique, quality items. So please think twice about where you spend your money, it is your vote for the places that you would like to stay.

Albany has a cool toy store again!!! The Toy Factory has opened in my old spot. Come and check them out. I will be working this Saturday for the Downtown Trick or Treat! Come by and say hi to me. I have missed all of you a bunch!!!

I can't believe I finally hit 500 fans and my store is not open, anymore. That is not fair! There are still some Lilypad Lounge things for sale. Check out the album. The Toy Factory folks have been working very hard. It won't be too much longer before Albany has a wonderful toy store again. Hang tight!

I am sad to announce that Frogs & Pollywogs is closing. However, I am excited to announce that The Toy Factory (of Corvallis fame) will be reopening in our very same spot AND I get to stay on as their manager! Frogs & Pollywogs last day is this Saturday and then we will be closed for a few days to get ready. I am looking forward to seeing you all soon and showing off the new digs!!

Kid's Night Out is coming up on Saturday, October 1st. This is going to be our last one so sign up now. This is how it works. You sign up your kids ($15 each) and we look after them and feed them dinner from 6-9:30pm. We have loads of fun while you are out having your own fun. Call us at 541-967-3055 for reservations.

Waking up Full of Awesome

There was a time when you were five years old,
and you woke up full of awesome.

You knew you were awesome.

You loved yourself.

You thought you were beautiful,
even with missing teeth and messy hair and mismatched socks inside your grubby sneakers.

You loved your body, and the things it could do.

You thought you were strong.

You knew you were smart.

Do you still have it?
The awesome.

Did someone take it from you?
Did you let them?
Did you hand it over, because someone told you weren’t beautiful enough, thin enough, smart enough, good enough?
Why the hell would you listen to them?
Did you consider they might be full of s**t?

Wouldn’t that be nuts, to tell my little girl below that in another five or ten years she might hate herself because she doesn’t look like a starving and Photoshopped fashion model?
Or even more bizarre, that she should be sexy over smart, beautiful over bold?
Are you freaking kidding me?

Look at her. She is full of awesome.

You were, once. Maybe you still are. Maybe you are in the process of getting it back.

All I know is that if you aren’t waking up feeling like this about yourself, you are really missing out.
