💔 The heartbreaking, overwhelming, exhausting update you’ve all been patiently waiting for…
We honestly don’t even know where to begin.
This has been one of the hardest weeks we’ve ever experienced as a rescue.
On Monday, our sweet little Gizmo took a turn for the worst. She became lethargic, started having seizures, couldn’t walk, and was rapidly declining. Gizmo was the dog we saved from a horrible situation after finding her listed on Facebook Marketplace — abused, neglected, living in a cage, and existing in a constant state of fear and panic.
Alycia spent countless hours earning her trust, helping her learn that not all humans are bad. The two of them became best friends.
Gizmo was hospitalized for 24 hours at BluePearl, but despite everyone’s efforts, her tiny body was simply too weak to keep fighting. Losing her has absolutely shattered us.
Then came Tuesday.
Carlos, our 6-year-old Beagle, was diagnosed with heartworm disease. As many of you know, heartworm treatment is long, expensive, and incredibly hard on dogs.
As if that wasn’t enough, Daisy Mae escaped from a volunteer’s yard and is still currently missing. We have experienced trappers actively working the case and are doing everything we can to bring her home safely.
On Wednesday, we held our low-cost spay and neuter clinic at the East Shelby Fire Hall. While there, we learned that our beloved kitty, Lolly, has a severe 6/6 heart murmur. Because of his condition, Lolly will now remain a forever ASAR kitty, where he will be loved and cared for until he lets us know it’s time.
Then Thursday came.
We received an urgent call from someone who was supposed to surrender their pregnant cat to us over a week ago. The message was simple: “You need to come get her right now — she’s in labor.”
Within hours, we welcomed five beautiful babies into the world.
Five new lives to protect. Five new mouths to feed. Five more reasons we keep going.
But if we’re being completely honest…
Mentally, physically, emotionally, and financially, Alycia and I are exhausted.
Over the last month alone, we have spent well over $15,000 on veterinary care. Every time we seem to get ahead, another emergency appears. We know many of you are struggling too, and asking for help is never easy, but right now we truly need a miracle.
If you’ve ever considered supporting our rescue, now is the time.
Whether it’s purchasing food or supplies from our Amazon wishlist, making a monetary donation, sharing our posts, or simply cheering us on, every bit helps. We cannot continue helping the dogs and cats who need us most without the support of our community.
Checks can be mailed to us (please message us for our mailing address). We also accept Venmo, PayPal, and other forms of donation by request.
As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all donations are tax deductible.

This rescue means everything to us. Every animal we’ve lost, every animal we’ve saved, every late-night emergency call, every adoption, every success story—they’re the reason we keep fighting.
We know this is just a hurdle.
But right now, it feels like one of the biggest we’ve ever faced.
Thank you for standing beside us, especially during the weeks when it feels impossible.
❤️
